Welcome to Learn to Skate at Deep South Ice & Sports Complex 

Experience the excitement of learning to skate at Deep South Ice & Sports Complex, Richmond's newest state-of-the-art ice sports facility. Designed to provide an exceptional experience for skaters and families alike, our world-class venue features two NHL-sized ice rinks, modern amenities, comfortable spectator seating, and one of the area's premier coaching teams. 

Whether your goal is to learn to skate for fun, play hockey, become a figure skater, or simply enjoy a new activity, our nationally recognized Learn to Skate USA program offers the perfect place to begin. Led by experienced, professional instructors, every class is taught in a safe, positive, and encouraging environment where skaters build confidence, develop new skills, and most importantly, have fun. 

​At Deep South, we believe learning to skate should be an unforgettable experience. By combining outstanding coaching, a proven curriculum, and a first-class facility, we're creating one of the finest Learn to Skate programs in Texas. We look forward to welcoming you and your family to the ice!

What is Learn to Skate USA?

​​Learn to Skate USA® is the nation's largest introductory ice skating program. Its mission is to provide a fun, safe, and positive experience that instills a lifelong love of skating. The program is designed for skaters of all ages and abilities, from preschoolers through adults, and serves as the foundation for recreational and competitive skating.

Unlike a figure skating program alone, Learn to Skate USA is endorsed by:

 

This means the basic skills learned in the program prepare skaters for multiple skating disciplines.

Every Learn to Skate registration includes:

  • Eight/Nine-week Learn to Skate Course 

  • One 30-minute group lesson each week 

  • Complimentary skate rental 

  • Professional Learn to Skate USA certified instructors 

  • Age-appropriate class groupings 

  • Nationally recognized Learn to Skate USA curriculum 

  • Online registration and payment 

 

Course Fee: $243 (9-week session)

Annual Learn to Skate USA membership is required and purchased separately.

STEP 1: Purchase Your Learn to Skate USA Membership

Before registering for classes, every skater must become a member of Learn to Skate USA.

​

Deep South Ice & Sports Complex is proud to offer the official Learn to Skate USA program, the nation's largest beginner ice skating program, serving more than 1,000 skating schools across the United States. 

​

The Learn to Skate USA curriculum is endorsed by both U.S. Figure Skating and USA Hockey, providing a proven, nationally recognized pathway for skaters of all ages. Whether your goal is figure skating, hockey, or simply learning to skate for fun, our program builds the skills and confidence needed to succeed.

 

​Annual Membership 

  • Required for all Learn to Skate participants. 

  • $20 per skater (valid through June 30, 2027). 

  • You must obtain your Learn to Skate USA membership before registering for classes.
