What is Junior Blades?

A quiet, focused one-hour ice practice session usually scheduled close to the time of Learn to Skate Classes. The session is designed especially for Learn to Skate and is a great time to practice skills, meet new friends, or take private lessons with a Deep South authorized coach.

No loud music or dim lights
Perfect for skill building
Perfect time for taking a private lesson
Great time to meet and practice with new friends from class
Parents can go onto the ice and skate too*(cannot teach child)

Rules

Skaters in Deep South Ice and Sports Complex Learn to Skate program only
Basic jumps allowed - no axels or double jumps
Basic Spins allowed - no flying spins
No hockey gear (helmets & gloves allowed)
No hockey sticks, pucks, or training aids
One earbud allowed only — no speakers
Counter-clockwise skating unless performing program with private coach
No racing, tag, or aggressive skating
No shouting
Keep away from the center of the ice so that coaches can give private lessons

Eligibility

All skaters currently registered in Deep South Learn to Skate Programs. (Snowplow Sams, Basic Skills 1-6, Freeskate 1-6, and Adults 1-6, Freesskate Power, Snowplow Hockey, Basic Hockey)
Until 12/31/26. Any Skaters who are taking a private lesson with a Deep South Ice and sports Complex authorized coach (at the levels above)
Parents/guardians /siblings of skaters currently enrolled in Deeps South Ice and Sports Complex Learn to Skate Programs.

Tuesdays 4:50-5:50pm
Thursdays 4:50-5:50pm
Saturdays 8:40-9:40am
Saturdays 12:00pm-1pm
Sundays 8:30-9:30am
